Shopping Cart?

Do I need to have a separate "shopping cart" in order to take orders for my SaaS client's web site? Or can I use Chargify as my cart? I'm not real clear on this and can't find any documentation to support or deny this idea.

Thanks,
Matt

    Hi Matt,

    Thanks for asking.

I assume you're developing an app for your client, and that your client wants to offer some sort of SaaS. And I assume that your client is not going to offer one-time-purchase goods (ie, not like Amazon, but more like Basecamp).

If that's all true, then we have a great API you can integrate into the site to do everything you need. We also have some hosted signup pages that you can use for some of the steps.

And we will soon (within a few months) have a fully hosted end-user portal where your clients users can do all the common stuff they need to do.

Let me know if that answered your question.

    Thanks.

    Hi Lance,

Well, not exactly. Although we may have the app developed as a part of
their site, the original idea was to sell subscriptions through my
client that was for a third party's SaaS. Is that even possible?
That's why I was thinking I needed some sort of "cart" to collect
data, then send it through you guys for "processing".

We're still looking into creating the custom app for this client. I'm
the art director/front-end guy, so this is a little different
territory for me. I've used eCommerce services such as Shopify (among
others), but wasn't sure if I can "by-pass" the cart in this instance.

    Thanks!
    Matt

Hi Matt! You can use our hosted payment pages to do the "collection" part - all it would take is linking to us. As Lance mentioned, this offering will also be morphing in to a more full-featured self service portal for the buyers.

In order to manage access to your client's services (i.e. Customer A bought access to Plan Z) you'd probably want to integrate with the API to collect that sort of information.

    Hope that helps!
