I can do recurring billing with Authorize.Net – what makes Chargify different?
The difference is recurring payments vs. subscription management. Yes, for an extra fee Authorize.Net allows you to set up recurring payments for your customers. You can pick a payment amount, set a billing interval, and the process is automated every month. However, the process is centered upon collecting the payment, not giving you any sort of business intelligence or helping you manage the pitfalls of recurring billing. Authorize.Net does not give you any of the tools to help manage failed credit cards or help you proactively manage cards that are about to expire. In fact, if you’re using Authorize.Net and a transaction fails – it’s up to you to manually contact your customer to try and resolve the issue. Chargify allows you to setup customized dunning strategies based upon different reasons for transaction failure so you save time and have complete control over how your customers get contacted.
